The Wells Fargo Championship: Where Golf and Banking Meet, But Only One is Guaranteed to Give You a Good Return.

Ah, the world of golf, where the grass is always greener and the players are always better dressed than you. The Wells Fargo Championship is back at Quail Hollow Club, which is basically like the Super Bowl of golf tournaments. It's being hosted for the fourth time in six years, because apparently, the rich and famous golfers just can't get enough of that southern hospitality.

But this year, things are heating up. With 156 entrants, including 15 top contenders, it's like a battle royale on the green. Who will come out on top? Will it be the seasoned veterans, or the young up-and-comers? Will someone accidentally hit their ball into the clubhouse and cause a scene? The possibilities are endless.

So if you're a fan of watching grown men and women chase after little white balls for hours on end, then the Wells Fargo Championship is the event for you. And if you're not, well, you can always come for the fancy hats and questionable fashion choices. Either way, it's sure to be a swinging good time.

High expectations for him at Quail Hollow despite a rough year. Top 10 in fairways hit, GIR, SG: Approach-the-Green and SG: Tee-to-Green. Presidents Cup record of 2-1-0.

He's not just winning at Match Play; he's regaining consistency in the heart of the season, with faith he'll compensate for mild tee-to-green trending.

2-3-0 record and a loss to Max Homa in Singles at the Presidents Cup aside, he displayed immense joy during the tournament. He'll undoubtedly carry those positive vibes into his return to the course. His strong tee-to-green game suits the venue, and his form is in good shape.

Improved at everything, he's rejuvenated his career with 5 top 10s and 9 top 20s this season, including a win at Quail Hollow in 2012.

No letdown concerns for the indefatigable winner at Vidanta. Despite uninspiring history at Quail Hollow, his experience pays forward today. Considerably elevated in the last two years.

Missed 2017 cut at Quail Hollow, but arrives with momentum after T10 at Masters, playoff win at Harbour Town, and teaming with brother Alex in NOLA.

Despite not being one of his regular stops, he's not new to Quail Hollow (missed cut in 2021) and boasts a solid Presidents Cup record (3-1-0). He finished T4 in his first appearance at Bay Hill earlier this year and leads the TOUR in par-4 and par-5 scoring.

Strong off the tee, he dominated the Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow. Since then, he's visited infrequently but is now fully adapted. Tremendous form with five top-six finishes since the WM.

With Jon Rahm absent, Hovland leads the field in all-around ranking. He excels tee-to-green and hasn't missed a cut in a non-major U.S. event in almost 15 months. Tied for third in his only prior Quail Hollow appearance (2021).

Perfect course for the struggling golfer after back-to-back missed cuts. Dominates at Quail Hollow with three wins and nine top 20s. Leads in driving distance and second in SG: Tee-to-Green.

Defending champ, won in 2019 and added 5 more, including 2 after last year's Wells Fargo. Also went 4-0-0 in the Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow.

Tips & Tricks - Where to put your balls!

When it comes to ball position, just remember this simple rule: short, center, deep; middle, slightly forward, shallow; long, forward, no divot. Easy, right!

Incorrect ball position can lead to weak ballstriking. Here's how to correct it:

  • Ball too far forward = early release and low shots with a closed clubface

  • Ball too far back = late release and high, pushed shots to the right with an open clubface

  • Standing too far away = weak, right-veering shots off the club's toe

  • Standing too close = shanks or pulled shots.

Driver

The Driver. Go ahead and place the ball all the way up at the left heel. This will give you the perfect angle to hit the ball on the upswing and achieve maximum distance. Just don’t forget to tee it up first!

Fairway Woods & Long Irons

Now for the long irons and fairway woods – no divot needed! Just move the ball even farther forward in your stance and swing with a sweeping motion. This way, you can impress your friends with your perfectly manicured turf.

Mid Length Irons

As for middle irons, move the ball forward from the middle of your stance, just a smidge. These clubs have a flatter lie angle, which means your divot should be a bit more shallow. Just be careful not to skimp on the divot size, or your golf buddies might think you’re a novice!

Short Irons & Wedges

For short irons, make sure to place the ball in the center of your stance, and be sure to take a deep divot. After all, nothing says “golf pro” like a giant clump of turf flying through the air.
